Caramel Popcorn

Caramel Popcorn came into my kitchen during the pandemic which has locked the whole world inside their homes. The want to have it, made me drag myself to try it in my own kitchen.


Believe me when I say that it is super easy and you can store it for your future cravings too.

That's a plus.


So let's start.





Ingredients:

  • Popcorn packet / Kernels

  • Sugar

  • Baking soda

  • Butter

Method:


1. Pop your popcorn kernels, you can use a stove top or if you are anything like me, buy a microwavable popcorn packet. It takes only 2-3 minutes in the microwave and voila, your base for the recipe is ready.


2. For caramel, add one cup of sugar into a saucepan on low heat. Please don't be in a hurry to stir it, let it melt gradually. Once it reaches a nice golden brown colour, add in two spoonful of butter and stir well. Throw in half a tea spoon of baking soda and mix well, don't panic if you see the mixture rising, that's how it works.


3. Add the popcorn into the mix, coat well and spread it on a lined tray to cool. Time is the key in this step, you have to be fast. Once on the tray, let it rest for thirty minutes.


4. You'll find yourself with clusters of popcorn, break them gently with hands and there you have homemade caramel popcorn.




For the people who love salted caramel, add in a pinch of salt while preparing the caramel.
