Baked Chicken with Baked Pasta


Every now and then I need a change and wish to to have those drool worthy American recipes that I saw on all the food channels I’ve been watching since years.


I was a devoted viewer of Nigella Lawson’s show on TLC, but the ingredients they use were all waste in my kitchen. So, now I make the same things, but with the ingredients that I know won’t go waste sitting on the kitchen shelf.


Hence, the below baked chicken and baked pasta. As there is chicken on the side, I haven’t jazzed up the pasta, I kept it extremely simple.


Ingredients:

Baked chicken

  • Chicken - 1 (with or without skin)

  • Ginger paste - 1 tsp

  • Garlic paste - 1 tsp

  • Onion - 1 large (diced)

  • Soy sauce - 2 tsp

  • Buttermilk - 1/4th cup

  • Butter - 3 tbps

  • Olive oil- 2 tbps

  • Red chilli flakes- 1 tsp

  • Black pepper powder - 2 tsp

  • Honey - 1 tsp

  • Salt- as per taste


Baked pasta

  • Butter - 2 tbps

  • Flour - 1 tbps

  • Milk - 1.5 - 2 cup

  • Minced garlic - 0.5 tsp

  • Boiled pasta - 2 cups

  • Cheese (spread, cheddar, cubes) - as per preference

  • Oregano / mixed herbs - as per taste

  • Chilli flakes - as per taste

  • Black/white Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp

  • Salt - as per taste

  • Mozzarella cheese - as much as you like 😉


Method:


Baked chicken

  1. Mix everything together and let it rest for an hour

  2. Pour the whole thing in a pan and bake in a preheated oven at 180 degree for 30-40 mins

Baked pasta

  1. In a pan, melt the butter and add the flour, mix well to avoid lumps. Cook while stirring for a minute. (This process will give you a roux, which will help thicken your sauce.)

  2. Add the garlic

  3. Add in the milk and let it cook on low flame.

  4. Put in the cheese, chilli flakes, pepper and herbs.

  5. Let the sauce thicken as per your preference.

  6. Add in the pasta and mix well.

  7. Transfer it in a pan, top it off with mozzarella cheese and bake it for 7-8 minutes at 180 degree.


There you have a simple and tempting baked chicken and baked pasta. You can simply have just that chicken with a steaming bowl of rice, or just make that pasta fancy with mushrooms, chicken or bell peppers and have it alone for dinner. Either way, you will have a full fledged meal on your table.
